Tell me more about your Forestry Provider?
Our partners have been established to offer the opportunity for private and institutional investors to invest in forestry, carbon neutral agriculture and renewable energy practices on
their commercial plantations worldwide.
Why buy trees?
Over the past 47 years forestry returns have shown a positive growth for 44 years. In recent decades, timber has been one of the best assets to own. As reported by Bloomberg Wealth Management: “Hardwood has quietly and consistently outperformed nearly all other commodities for the past 100 years”. Timber prices are extremely stable, and are not
correlated with the stock market. Trees grow constantly throughout their lifecycle, and if timber prices fall, the owner can simply wait and let his investment grow - making timber a
fantastic medium to long- term investment.
Can I visit my trees?
We aim to offer complete transparency in all our investments so we actively encourage clients to visit the plantations. Quarterly trips are organised for clients at heavily subsidised rates.
Who will manage my forestry?
Our Partners professional foresters constantly monitor the growth profiles of your trees in the plantations. They report on the condition of your trees by providing two foresters reports per annum
Is 2010 still a good time to invest?
We believe that whilst there are obvious problems with the global economy there are still some great opportunities in the marketplace that demonstrate some significant returns. It does however make our life a little trickier however; we have risen to the challenge and still manage to source some fantastic investments that can deliver positive returns for our investor base.
Why use gliricidia as a bio-fuel?
Gliricidia is a renewable crop source and the Sri Lankan government have classified the plant a national tree crop. Gliricidia is widely recognised as the best crop source for clean energy production and is already grown as an interplanted crop on our plantations in Sri Lanka. Gliricidia as biomass is easy to grow, collect, utilise and replace quickly without depleting natural resources and is a viable fuel to replace diesel.
How will the use of gliricidia benefit the local population?
The use of gliricidia stimulates the rural economy by creating further domestic jobs on our plantations. Also rather than take a valuable local food commodity such as corn or soyabean for a source of bio-fuel we feel that from an ethical viewpoint it is more beneficial to use a crop for bio-fuel that doesn’t take food from the local population. Although gliricidia can be used for cattle feed it cannot be used as a human foodstuff.
What if I need my money back before my trees are harvested?
our partners are happy to offer a buyback to all Yes Eco Investments clients, available anytime after 2 years of the trees being planted. Should you find your circumstances changing whereby you would need to relinquish your holdings before the time of harvest, you are also completely entitled to sell to whomever you wish. Your title to the trees along with any lease agreement is readily transferable.
How can my trees be identified?
After we have planted your trees, we will determine their exact location in the field using a global positioning satellite system and record your trees in your name in our records, stating the quantity, species, and year of planting; the location of your plantation; and the GPS location where your trees are planted.
What if any of my trees perish?
As from the beginning of your investment, it is agreed that our partners have in place a guaranteed replanting scheme. This will cover replanting costs for the duration of your investment. Under the original guarantee, trees that are damaged by accidental fire, lightning, cyclones, drought, flooding, pest and disease or wild elephants will be replanted from sapling. However the additional insurance option provided by Ceylinco will insure the tree by taking its age into account at that time.
